Eastwood CFC are delighted to announce the capturing of the signature of 6ft 2in striker Aaron Opoku!
Aaron joins from Stafford Rangers boasting a wealth of experience, having won promotion to Step 3 with Leek Town last season and previously turning out for Carlton Town and Matlock Town. While at his previous club, Leek Town; Aaron managed to score 16 goals in his 61 appearances and during his time at Carlton Town he bagged an impressive 49 goals in 127 appearances over a five year spell with the Millers. A strong and aggressive forward, who will add that grit and competition to our forward line.
Chairman and Owner Lee Wood expressed his delight for the club’s newest recruit…
“I am absolutely delighted to welcome Aaron to the club. He is a player the management team know well and having the opportunity to bring someone of his quality to the club is one we couldn’t pass up. We’re all buzzing to get this deal over the line and excited about what he’ll bring to the squad.”
“Aaron strengthens our attacking options and adds more depth to our forward line, bringing with him a wealth of experience.”
“His professionalism, character, and mentality are exactly what we need to push the team forward, both on and off the pitch. He’s a player with a strong work ethic and an incredible desire to win, qualities that will only have a positive impact on the group.”
“Aaron is already familiar with several members of the squad, which will help him settle in quickly and hopefully hit the ground running. We’re confident he’ll integrate seamlessly and contribute straight away. This is a fantastic addition for the club, and we can’t wait to see him in action.”
Joint manager Daryll Thomas also shared his thoughts on the incoming forward…
“We’re absolutely delighted to add Azza to the squad and I would like to thank Dale and Stafford Rangers for making the signing smooth and quick.”
“Again Azza is someone I speak to regularly on a weekly basis so when he told me he was moving back home from Manchester we had a brief discussion about him coming to join us and we’re buzzing he’s decided to come here.. for anyone that knows him he is a great person first and foremost but what he offers on a football pitch is something I’ve never seen before in non league, when he is fully fit and at it he is unplayable.”
“Az brings pace, power, hard work and more experience of someone winning, after winning the league with Leek Town last season. There is also the added bonus that he already has a relationship with Ty and OC both on and off the field so with Westy, OC, Ty and Azza we feel we have the right balance and depth to really have a go until the end of the season.”
Welcome to Eastwood CFC Azza
Opoku could debut in tonight’s County Cup Second Round tie with Basford United.
