Matt Clowes and Lewis McGugan’s men know that a win tonight will secure their place in the Third Round Qualifying, the furthest the club has ever been in the competition.
Gresley have had a dominant run in the competition to date with victories over Lincoln United (10-0), Long Eaton United (4-3) and Birstall United (7-0). Rovers finished four in their midweek league last season in a division where Newark & Sherwood United central defender Jamie Williamson’s Clifton All Whites side were crowned champions. This season Gresley lead the way with two wins from two matches.
Squad Update: Clowes & McGugan have had bad news after bad news this week with Owen Hayes and Finley Welbourn both picking up back injuries ruling them out of tonight, Wilfred Hillyard is set to come in and start, the seventeen year old has impressed with the Under 21’s during pre-season and has earned his call up. With injury to Welbourn Academy Striker Leo Robinson could start for the first time in the competition whilst Charlie Crofts and Daniel Utley have recovered from slight knocks and are both included.
