MATCH PREVIEW - Saturday 1st March 2025

Zander Shayler28 Feb - 09:12

We open March with a tricky trip to the Fenland Stadium.

We kick off the first of four consecutive away games with a trip to Norfolk this Saturday afternoon.

League leaders Eastwood go in to the game off the back of being held at home by Melton Town last time out, prior to that the Red Badgers were on a run of four wins on the bounce. 16th placed Wisbech Town are the hosts bidding to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.

Town have won one of their last seven and suffered a 6-2 defeat to Belper United last time out. The win did come come against inform Skegness Town courtesy of a 96th minute winner from Sam Bennett.

The Red Badgers boast the best away record in the division and are currently on a run of four straight wins away from home scoring fourteen goals.

Previous meetings: In the reverse fixture it was Eastwood who came away with three goals a clean sheet and all three points as three goals in sixteen second half minutes put the game out of sight for the visitors courtesy of strikes from Tyler Blake, Phil Watt and Alex Troke. In the last visit to the Fenland Stadium Chris Robertson scored late, to rescue a point for the Red Badgers after Tyler Blake had missed a penalty earlier in the match. For the last Wisbech win in this fixture you need to go back to the final game of the 2022/23 season where goals from Tyler Blake and Ryan Tait weren’t enough as the Red Badgers lost out in a five goal thriller.

Player Watch: Striker Toby Allen who netted 21 times last campaign and Elliott Foster who leads the way with goals from open play this season have both recently left the club and forwards Sam Bennett and Robert Conyard have come in as replacements and have done a sterling job so far netting ten goals between them as they continue to help pull Wisbech Town further away from the relegation zone.

Squad Update: Ball & Thomas could name an unchanged side from the one that was held by Melton Town last Saturday. Daniel Elliott is set to return with Oliver Robinson pushing for a start. Billy Gillies has left the club, Billy leaves having won January’s Play Of The Month award and departs the club having scored three goals in sixteen appearances.

COACH TRAVEL : There is a coach leaving the ground at 11am for all players and supporters free of charge.
