MATCH PREVIEW - Saturday 12th October 2024

Zander Shayler11 Oct - 13:37

It is the third away game on the bounce as we make the short trip to Hucknall this weekend for a local derby clash.

Aerial Way plays host to what is likely to be another fierce derby as Eastwood look to return to form after back to back defeats. The defeat to Ashby on Tuesday night marked two defeats from two games for Eastwood the first time that has happened since March and the heaviest defeat that has been inflicted on Eastwood since the 5-2 loss against Hucknall in February.

Although Hucknall have lost more than they have won this season, only three of those defeats have been by more than one goal with Hucknall failing to score in just two of their sixteen games this season and Town have lost one of their last four at home.

Player Watch: Niall Towle has picked up where he left off last season making an impressive start to this campaign, he has appeared in all sixteen of Town’s games so far netting eleven goals. Former captain Aaron Short is likely to once again lead out Hucknall against his former side while Latrell Patterson will line up against Eastwood for the second time this season having already crossed paths whilst at Sleaford Town. More former players in the form of Ellis Chambers, Luis Parkes and Alfie Eccles-Smith are also in the Hucknall squad.

Previous Meetings: Aerial Way, the new home of Hucknall Town is a place ECFC have only visited once, that game took place last season where Niall Towle had given the hosts the lead before a 92nd minute equaliser from Tyler Blake rescued the Red Badgers a point. In a more recent meeting Hucknall ran out 5-2 winners at Coronation Park at the end of February earning Town their first even win at Coronation Park. Niall Towle scored a hat trick that day taking his tally to four goals in his last two matches against Eastwood. Tomorrow will mark the 18th meeting between the two teams only Sherwood Colliery have been faced more times by Eastwood CFC.

Squad Update: Martin Ball and Daryll Thomas could reshuffle their side after back to back defeats, Phil Watt is unavailable and Aaron O’Connor is a doubt after limping off nine minutes into the game on Tuesday night, but everyone else is up for selection with Daniel Elliott making a return to the bench against Ashby. If O’Connor is fit enough to be included and does appear tomorrow it will mark his 50th appearance in Eastwood colours.
