Goals from Paddy Webb, Ben Gowing and Carl Westcarr earn Eastwood the win and extend their lead at the top of EMCFL to three points.
The 1st Team gaffer had this to say after today’s win;
“Well what can I say, I’ve looked at the stats and to be honest found it hard to understand how we were 1 & 2 nil down, I wasn’t concerned at half time and explained to the boys we need to be patient”
“ What I did like today was even when we went 2-0 down our fans believed and got behind the lads and was lovely to see”
“ I thought their Goalie made some brilliant saves and was their stand out player which says a lot about the game”
“ I had to make a change and Will was sacrificed to bring on Westy, I said to the lads before the game you need to understand I have to make decisions and it’s not personal, Heathy accepted it like the man he is, he was good today but we needed to introduce a striker”
“ Westy came on and I think the game changed and I was delighted he got the winner, He’s my first team coach but he’s in great shape and I know he will give us something different. He’s a good man and I take my hat off to him today”
JJ
Eastwood CFC Director of Operations, had this to say;
“When we was 2-0 down with 15 to play there will be people out there who thought we had no chance, but me personally and the supporters in the ground believed we could get back into it and we did and deserved too. All the lads showed real character today to win the way they did, David Leak was superb, Paddy is Paddy and now has 26 goals this season, but today’s stand out performer was Joe Harrison who I thought was immense, and by far played his best game in an Eastwood shirt this afternoon”
“We were all disappointed to go out of the cup on Tuesday night but you can’t deny the lads have been in exceptional league form winning seven of their last eight and are now three points clear at the top of the table, despite missing keys players such as Kieren Watson and Ross Parker. Teams below us have games in hand but all we can keep doing is winning and that’s what we’re doing at the moment.”
“The next two league games are the big ones, both away, both against sides that have beaten us at home this season, so let’s see what we’re made of. Thankyou for all the support today and we hope to see you at Sherwood next week”
