Lee Wood has taken control of Eastwood CFC.

Eastwood CFC are delighted to announce that Lee Wood has taken over as owner and chairman. As everyone is aware our previous owner Mr Darryl Claypole has suffered with ill health throughout his tenure and has recently started treatment for a serious illness meaning that he has to prioritise his health. With this in mind Lee has stepped in over the last few months to help with day to day operations at the club and they feel that with the season coming to a close it is the perfect time for Lee to take the reigns and make any adjustments and changes he feels are necessary over the close season.

The club and Lee would like to place on record their thanks to Darryl who has helped transform the club and team with significant progress made both on and off the pitch.

Lee said “ I inherit a club that is in a great position to take forward. We have a young team who are committed and passionate and crave success. People like Zander, Scott and Graham who work phenomenally hard day and night, Martin and DT who have proven themselves to be great young managers and are the people I want to build this club around. My vision for the club is to build on the successes we have had over the last year I want to establish a real connection between our junior teams and the first team and want them all to feel a part of a true community football club. I would love to see the ground to become a social hub for our members and their families. I am an ambitious person by nature and want to see the first team competing for titles and trophies but I am equally excited to see the successes of our junior teams.”

Darryl said “ it’s been the privilege of my life to serve as chairman of Eastwood CFC and I am very proud of how far the club has come over the last year. It’s unfortunate that my health has deteriorated to a point where I no longer feel I can drive the club forward. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work and dedication and wish you all every success in the future. I feel that the club is in safe hands with Lee and I’m looking forward with to watching the clubs progress. I hope to visit Coronation Park next season when my health improves.”

First team managers Martin Ball and Daryll Thomas went on record to thank outgoing Chairman Darryl Claypole for giving them their first opportunity in management and for his help and support over the last 18months and to welcome Lee Wood and look forward to a bright new future.
